What We Do
RECYCLING WASTE
Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution (from landfilling).
THE ECO SYSTEM
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment (things like air, water, and mineral soil), interacting as a system.
CONSERVATION
Conservation is an ethic of resource use, allocation, and protection. Its primary focus is on maintaining the health of the natural world, its fisheries, habitats, and biological diversity.
WIND ENERGY
Wind energy is a form of solar energy. Wind energy (or wind power) describes the process by which wind is used to generate electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power.
DYNAMIC ECOLOGY
Many ecologists expect competing species to exhibit compensatory dynamics, meaning that the densities of any two competing species should be negatively correlated over time or across space. Think of a drought that causes the density of every plant species to decline, even though they're all competing.
SAVING PLANTS
Poor or non-existent collection controls are threatening the survival of many of the plant species used in traditional and modern medicines. Saving plants will benefit the health and well-being of both the ecosystems they are part of and the local people who depend on them for their livelihoods.
